I never learnt about handdrawing. No way, despite a lot of tries. But since I was a child, I remember I liked to use cameras (old compact cameras with film, nothing digital, obviously).
The 3D Side
On a magazine I got Poser 2, and something started to move in the right direction.
Well, to be honest, I waited a lot before trying to understand it and thinking about it as useful for art. Too many things in my head… A new job, a new girlfriend, a rock band…
My “serious” renders started using Daz Studio (beta) in 2005 (and Poser 5 when I got it with discounted price) and since then I did over 200 renders. I’m not consider myself as a “master of 3D” and I try to improve my skills day by day.
I bought Bryce, Hexagon and Carrara too, but I never had the time for learn them as I would.
The Photo side
In 1998 I discovered digital cameras. My first one was a Sony Mavica, which used floppy disks as medium… Too bad for my needs, because photos were too compressed and small (and a terrible flash too powerful). The pro? A 10x optical zoom, useless with that compression…
Then I switched to a Canon Powershot S50 when it came out.
It was one of the first 5MP on the market… I remember I was searching for a good 4MP, when the guy in the store told me about that model. I really enjoyed that camera. Great pictures, despite the 3.5x optical zoom.
And in 2011 I moved to a Canon Powershot SX220 HS. I was searching for a replacement (the S50 is still working, but I gave it to my wife). I was (and I AM) not sure about the number of MP… I think it’s more a “marketing thing”… That day the girl in the store probably damned me
I asked her about a lot of things. MP, prices, differences between different brands and models… And after one hour, I decided to keep with Canon.
Why I didn’t went for a reflex? Cause my shoots are taken outside, not in studio, and I want to keep the camera always in my pocket. A reflex is too big for that (and it costs too much for me, I cannot afford it).
I think in 13 year I did about 12000 photos. Not bad!
